Silicon Graphics (OTC: SGID), a leader in high performance computing today announced preliminary financial results for its third fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2006.
Based on preliminary data available at this time, the Company expects revenue of approximately $108 million for the third fiscal quarter as compared to its guidance of $140 million to $160 million. The Company’s cost reduction initiatives continue to be on track, although there continue to be significant restructuring and professional advisory fees associated with the turnaround efforts.

WE HAVE LONG heard rumors of SGI AMD-based products surfacing, but every time we did, the oft-mentioned, red-throated reliable sources told us that the project had been canceled.
It looks like said sources are wrong, according to a release by Interactive Supercomputing found on Linux Electrons, there is a version of the Star-P compiler coming out for SGI Opteron boxes.

MagiQ Technologies Inc., which is based in New York, has formed a joint venture to commercialize diamond-encrusted single-photon sources for use as components of quantum cryptography systems. Also participating in the agreement are Silicon Graphics Inc. of Mountain View, Calif., and, in Australia, Qucor Pty Ltd. of Sydney and the University of Melbourne.
